When YouTube stars Corridor Crew contacted me about a video on the true scale of garbage, I had no idea it would end up reaching more than 800,000 people.
Their video, VFX Artist Reveals the TRUE Scale of GARBAGE, does something rare and important. It makes the waste crisis visible.
Waste is hard to understand at scale. We can picture a bin bag, a skip, or a landfill. But once we start talking about the waste produced by whole cities, countries, or the world, the numbers become almost impossible to imagine.
Corridor Crew use visual effects to bring those numbers to life – covering landfills, uncontrolled dumps, ocean waste, plastics, and the scale of what we throw away.
I was delighted to be interviewed for the video and to help explain some of the wider waste management context behind the visuals.
